Keys to Completion

There is no greater feeling of accomplishment than finishing what you started. In all my years as a fitness professional, I cannot count the dozens of people I have met along the way who have never finished what they started (from a fitness standpoint, that is). They enthusiastically start their holistic weight loss journey and stop at the first hint of discouragement in a vicious cycle that repeats itself over and over again.
Headquarters for Health, Hope and Healings’ (4H) Biggest Loser Challenge recently completed an 8 week weight loss challenge that presented some obstacles to the challengers finishing what they started. There was snow, frigid temperatures, flu and covid season, illness, pain, etc., but these ladies never lost sight of their goals, and they all finished strong. Every last challenger lost weight and forged a sisterhood amongst each other. I am humbled and inspired by their unwavering “get back up” attitudes.
Completing any task is going to require your effort, discomfort, faith, and determination. Many people believe in will power, but I ask you to believe in the power of God to help get you where you want to be in life. Of course there are going to be real issues that will come up in your life that will derail your plans for a season, but do not give up! (Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.)
Nothing worth having ever came without a cost to you and your comfort. There will always be obstacles, barriers and challenges in your life that will test you. The key is to be equipped in advance to handle them should they arise. For example, if you plan to take a walk or run outdoors, and it begins to rain; or your friend who was supposed to work out with you today had something come up and now you are on your own. What are you going to do now? Have a back up plan, and find a YouTube workout video that you can complete inside; or get some use out of that gym membership that you’ve been paying and haven’t used in months. If you want to make progress, you can’t make excuses. Just get it done.
In Christ,
Angie
