How many countless health and beauty products have you purchased over your lifetime? As a lifetime health and beauty consumer, and educator, I must confess that less than 20% of the products I purchased really did not make any recognizable difference to my overall appearance.  Because that  is what we’re all trying to do; change our outward appearance when we purchase the next best beauty hack.  We are swift to believe the hype of the  “guaranteed or  your money back” clause, and immediately take that impulsive plunge to purchase said product during this “limited time only”.  We excitedly wait for these products to arrive, use them for a period of time (usually not the recommended period of time before giving up on it), and repeatedly are left regretting the amounts of money wasted on things that did not satisfy or meet our expectations.

The truth about quick fixes is that there is no quick fix.  If you are struggling with weight loss, you need to exercise more, and eat less.  If you want to sleep better and wake up rested, you need to eliminate distractions, go to bed, and sleep the recommended 7-8 hours.  If you are struggling with self esteem issues stemming from how you perceive you look by today's  beauty standards, you need to see yourself as the Father sees you, while  taking care of your skin, body,  and health daily.  If you want your paycheck and finances to meet your monthly needs, steward your money wisely, and tithe.

Isaiah 55:2-3 reads, Why do you spend money for what is not bread (what feeds you), and your wages for what does not satisfy you?  Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance.  Incline your ear and come to Me, Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you.  God did make an everlasting covenant with His children through the death, and ultimate resurrection of The King, Jesus the Christ, at Calvary.  This covenant offers believers forgiveness of sins, the Holy Spirit for guidance, and the promise of eternal life.

Full disclosure, I have been dissatisfied and anxious with the thinning of my hair (which used to be my crowning glory and idol).  I have bought several expensive products over the last year or two to return my crown to its youthful glory, and nothing worked.  Until I learned to bring every trivial detail of my being to the One who urges us daily to bring all our cares to Him, (because He cares for us…1 Peter 5:7).  In many areas of my life, I have strived in my own strength and limited knowledge to conjure up what I wanted to see come to fruition in my life.  When I gave up striving to make my own way, and gave my hopes and desires to the One who holds our past, present and future in His hands, I received everything I prayed for, believing with certainty that God would do what He said He would do….. Despite what you believe and/or heard about God, He is gracious.  He is slow to anger and full of mercy and love.  He is a good Father, and what concerns you concerns Him.

In Him,

Angie
